This certainly a promising start for what could be a great series, and since I have the second book I plan on finding out quite soon. The world itself is rather cool and has a bit of a alternate reality feel to it, as well as some great steampunk aspects. But the coolest part of this is the whole inclusion of aether, sun-steel and ghosts. Those three things make this story wildly unique and I really loved the whole idea of a sword being able to trap souls. Omar is a curious character and I really wish that I knew what made him immortal, it's hinted at so I can only hope that there will be some mention of it later. The writing is fluid and detailed and certainly wonderful to read. This is a series I fully intend on continuing when I get the chance.
