The Vampires (In Darkness We Must Abide, #5) - Rhiannon Frater I received this book from Rhiannon Frater in exchange for an honest review. I received no compensation. If you have not read the previous 4 episodes in this serial, then please note that the review below may contain very slight spoilers.AH! That is a scream that holds every emotion I’m feeling right now in it. There is the slightly excited squeal, the frustrated table flipping growl, and the pained gasp. Rhiannon should be proud of herself, because she some how managed to make me a veritable rainbow of emotion in the hour it took me to read this.Vanora has grown into her beauty and that fiery personality that we kept sneaking out in the previous books is back. She’s stronger and somehow at the same time more frail than before. I want to shield and urge her own simultaneously. Armando is heavenly…and so flipping frustrating. He is definitely without a doubt my favorite in this series, not that that is a surprise to anyone. I love that he has me unsure where I stand, I know he’s delicious but there is still that part of him I don’t trust. It’s enough that I want to shake him…but then again the story is getting so good and I kind of want him to keep at it. The gradual changes in the characters is great given the time jumps and I love that vampires have that dueling nature. It’s so hard not to go into detail when trying to explain why I like about this particular episode, because too much detail will give things away and yet no details leaves you with a rather blank slate of “I love it, go buy it”. Rhiannon has definitely created a world worth checking out. It has it all! Gothic horror, normal horror (there is a difference), romance (swoon-worthy), coming of age, and some really interesting world building. I’m really looking forward to season 2 which starts in June!
